President Biden Supports Sale of F-16 Jets to Turkey

He says it is not a “quid pro quo.”

On Thursday, President Joe Biden said, after the NATO summit in Madrid, that he supported selling F-16 fighter jets to the country of Turkey. Though Turkey initially opposed Sweden and Finland’s bids for NATO membership, the three nations resolved their differences by signing a memorandum for counterterrorism cooperation earlier this week.

President Biden believes this is not a “quid pro quo” negotiated with Turkey, where they exchanged cooperation for updated fighter jets. “I said back in December, as you’ll recall, we should sell them the F-16 jets and modernize those jets as well,” President Biden stated. “It’s not in our interest not to do that and I indicated to them that I had not changed my position at all since December.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president to seek God’s wisdom as he negotiates with other nations.
  • For Secretary of State Blinken to be discerning in diplomatic efforts with foreign ministers.
  • For insight for Secretary Austin as he heads the Defense Department.
